What uses and gratifications can my audience get from my A2 coursework?
A2 Short Film
I think my film can be consumed in different ways by my teen audience (mass) for example:
Identity/Relationships: I think my main character in my film could be a positive role model on my target audience creating a relationship with the audience as they are similar ages. As I show the characters hobbies, the audience can relate and become more interested. Also because I made my film a social realist film it helped give a realistic message which can be interpreted differently.I challenged other teen films by making the message positive.
Diversion/Entertain: I think my film fulfils this category as it is pleasing to watch and is easy to watch. It also has the form of 'escapism' from reality from watching someone else life and could influence the audience to find a hobby and not be influenced by drugs or alcohol.
Cultural Transmission: For my audience it is an insight into someone of the same ages life. But for a different audience of maybe an older age it could be still interesting as they get to understand what teenagers are getting up to at school and learn about the younger society.
A2 Film Poster
My film poster can be suggest what the film is about and attracts my audience through the colour, fonts and photos.
Diversion/Entertain: From audience feedback I developed my poster to make it visually pleasing. I think it is nice to look at and relates to my film making a brand identity through the screenshots of the film and entices the audience.
Audience: It is suited to teens therefore I used popular fonts, colours and exciting hobby photos from the film. It gives a small insight into the film without giving it away.
A2 Double Review Page
Surveillance/Education: It informs people about the films of the month e.g feature and short films. Gives information about the cast and crew of the film and a review of the film. Which can help get more people to watch the film. The language isn't very formal as it is suited to teenagers and would relate better to the audience. Can also be interesting to film fanatics who are interested in many genres of film.
Diversion/Entertain: It can look pleasing to the eye through the use of colours and photos. By reading the review it would make you want to watch it and then you would understand the review page.
Audience: By making most of the font larger than normal review it entices my teen audience as it will catch there attention. The photos are screenshots the same as the poster which is successful as it makes the audience make a judgement of what the film is going to be about. The colours of the review relate to the film helping create a brand identity suiting the teens.
