I had an idea in my head of what I wanted my film poster to look like as I took inspiration from previous teen film posters. I wanted to include:
- screenshots to my film, not giving the film away but enticing the audience to watch it.
- big title to make it clear what film it is.
- near the title I wanted my slogan/tagline for my film.
Draft 1:
I used the layout of having the 6 photos at the top and the title, slogan and credits nearer the bottom. This was inspired by 'Confessions of a teen age drama queen' as she uses a similar layout but has colourful writing which I am not interested in using. I used the font 'Eraser Dust' which I like as it looks like someone has sketched it and relates to my character liking art. I used the font 'mossy' which I really like but it doesn't have the choice in making the font bold. Which is annoying as it is hard to read which isn't good to for a film poster as you need easy fonts to read from a far.
Draft 2:
I decided to make another style of my film poster and changed the layout of where every section goes. I placed the title at the top as I think conventionally it is the best place to be to draw in the audience. I changed the font colour to a light grey but I prefer the darker grey as it stands out more. I placed the 6 screenshots/photos from the film underneath the title to give an brief insight to the film. I added the slogan/tagline under the photos in the 'mossy' font to test it out. But it doesn't allow you to make the font bold as it can come across slightly faint and wouldn't look effective on a large scale as its not easy to read. I kept the same credits as I think it fits the conventions of a teen/documentary film poster and looks effective on small and large scales.
Draft 3:
I kept the same position of the title from the second draft as it was the most effective layout. I changed the colour from light grey to dark grey as it stands out more. I realised after making this draft that 'releivement' isn't the right word to use. I still thought the use of the 'courier new' font was good as it is what I use in my film. There is a blank space in between for where the 6 photos will be positioned. I want each photo to represent a hobby. I kept the same credits but need to change the first line as there shouldn't be an 'a' to start the line off as it will not make sense.
Draft 4:
The only thing I changed on my whole film poster draft was the slogan of the film and changed the word 'relievement' to 'alleviation'. 'Alleviation' is a better word to use as it can mean relief, freedom and release which are good words to use relating to stress. The next steps as I have chosen this draft as my final draft I need to add 6 screenshots/ photos summing up and not giving away the film idea.
